Elan McMillin

With six years in the solar industry and fifteen years in mortgage lending, Elan brings both financial insight and renewable energy expertise to his role at EFS Energy. He got his start launching a residential solar division for a commercial solar company, then spent several years developing utility-scale and community solar projects across central and southern Illinois.

At EFS, Elan thrives on helping clients make smart investments that pay off for years. “My favorite part of the job is getting feedback from the customers once the job is completed saying how much money they’re saving,” he says.

He loves sharing knowledge about new solar technology with friends, family, and clients, while also helping to debunk misinformation. For Elan, his customers’ curiosity and willingness to try new technology is a highlight. He wants others to know that “the future is going to require a lot more power. Solar is the cheapest, fastest, cleanest way to get more electrons on the grid.”

Outside of work, Elan is a busy dad, shuttling his two daughters to practices and events. He’s also into gardening, cooking, and catching every sport he can—from college hoops and football to MLB and soccer.

His advice for those considering a job in solar energy is to find a company that shares your values. “Make sure that you’re a good fit with the culture of the company, and that their ethics and goals match yours.”
